BASES SCHOOL'S OUT PROGRAM
Let us entertain the kids while you take care of business. Pack up the bat bag, pack up the lunch, drop the kids at BASES and don't sweat a bunch!
Activities will be determined by the group in attendance with the guidance and supervision of our Lil' Sluggers coordinator, Jamie Hurman-Cougnet. Dodgeball, kickball, batting cages, movies, games, and more to choose from.
All of us do more than sports! Everyone who teaches their sport at BASES has a primary profession other than baseball or softball. Most of our instructors have previous professional/college baseball or softball experience that provides a great deal of the knowledge base that they bring to your student athletes. Inter-actions with fellow instructors and coaches, game experience, and constant attention to the "game" and its changes completes their knowledge base.
Periodically, we will highlight one of our BASES instructors in their "day jobs" (what they do when they are not at BASES providing hitting, pitching, and fielding instruction). The purpose is to let you know more about "Who We Are" and to let you know that our focus, during instruction, isn't just about the skills of the sport but about the skills of the sport within the framework of the skills of everyday life.
Matt Lubaszewski, our youngest BASES instructor, is currently pursuing a career in Emergency Medical Services. A part of that pursuit is his responsibility to his community as an integral part of the Arbutus Volunteer Fire Department. Matt has currently been selected to serve as a Lieutenant in the Emergency Medical Services group at Station 35. A brief video about the Arbutus Volunteer Fire Company and "The Way They Live" is provided.
